Chris is a veteran construction executive with a near 40-year record of success in the construction world. After gaining his honors degree in civil engineering at the University of Surry in England, Chris moved to South Africa in 1984 and worked on a multitude of different projects including roads, highways and bridges, infrastructure projects, heavy civil engineering industrial plant projects and finally, a design-build international racetrack project in Welkom – home of the South African MotoGP between 1999 and 2004.
In 2005 Chris left South Africa for the United States and joined Mortenson Construction’s Denver office starting his 11-year tenure there as a Project Manager/Estimator at the Stapleton Redevelopment Project. Other projects there included the Prairie Gateway Redevelopment Project - the Commerce City soccer facility, multiple US Army Corps of Engineers design-build projects at Fort Carson, Colorado, totaling over $500 million and Manitoba Hydro's HVDC Bipole III project ($800 million). Chris left Mortenson in 2015 as a Construction Executive and joined Project One Integrated Services looking after the Denver Art Museum and Children's Learning Adventure projects before forming Grundy Construction Management & Consulting in 2017.
Since forming Grundy CMC, Chris has led the design completion and construction of the Denver Art Museum's $150 million North Building Renovation project, and has provided Owner's Representative services on a number of National Healthcare Realty projects in Colorado, Arizona and Florida.
Having completed many design-build projects both in South Africa and with Mortenson, Chris is well-experienced in managing the design process as well as leading large, complex construction projects.
